A favorite of collectors and the Design Miami/Basel set, Paris’s Galerie kreo specializes in limited-edition furnishings and objects created in collaboration with top-notch designers, including Marc Newson, Hella Jongerius, and Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec. For the gallery’s latest project, owners Didier and Clémence Krzentowski challenged friends, artists, and members of their design stable to work on a much smaller, more delicate scale. “Autour du Cou” (Around the Neck), which opens today, marks the gallery’s first jewelry exhibition and presents 18 radically different interpretations of a necklace. “I love jewels, and I have always dreamt of doing a special exhibition,” Clémence explains. “It is fascinating to see that even if necklaces have been made for centuries, artists still have a wonderful imagination when it comes to design and materials.”

Ranging from the delicate Frémissement, a collar of golden wire by the Korean artist Lee Ufan, to the daring La Corde au Cou, a noose of braided hemp and gold strings by the Brazilian brothers and design team Fernando and Humberto Campana, the exhibition explores the fascinating intersection between two types of highly coveted collectables—contemporary design and jewelry.
